What the work involves

Guides and hosts are the people guests remember. Depending on the venue, that means orienting first-timers and managing guest flow, leading guided sauna and ice-bath classes, or starting and tending wood fires and hosting small sessions.

Community saunas tend to combine the jobs: one host may check guests in, stoke the stove, clean between sessions and handle the booking system. Some operators train you, including in Aufguss or in towing a mobile sauna.

Getting in: Often open to people new to sauna who have customer-facing experience. Expect to lift 30 to 50 lb at outdoor and wood-fired venues.
